Sermon from 04/21/13_Freedom to do Good

Date 2013-04-21

This week at Imprint Church in Woodinville, WA, we completed our Freedom sermon series on the book of Galatians.

In Galatians 6, Paul finally applies freedom to our relationships with one another. He tells us that the Christian who walks in the Spirit is free to love, care, serve, and honor one another. And on a big level, we can say that this section of Galatians helps us understand how we can do good. Galatians points out three areas where we can show goodness.

1. In Christ we do good by helping one another (6:1-6)
2. In Christ we do good by making the most out of every opportunity (6:7-10)
3. In Christ we do good by doing all this with pure motives. (6:11-18)

Sermon from 04/14/13_Freedom to Walk in the Holy Spirit

Date 2013-04-14

In our April 14th sermon at Imprint Church in Woodinville, we studied Galatians 5:16-26 to see what the Bible has to say about who the Holy Spirit is and what He does. The Freedom Statement for today’s sermon was, “If you know Jesus, you are empowered to walk in the power of the holy spirit.”

For much of church history the third Person of the Trinity has been virtually overlooked. And today more than ever this is true because we are so good at doing things ourselves. We pride ourselves in self-sufficiency and competency and best practices. What if those things are actually killing our spiritual lives?

Moreover, we really believe that today many people are hungry to experience a real encounter with God. They don’t want our polished show or our “best foot forward.” They want to really see the Lord working in the midst of us… changing lives, helping us not rely on ourselves, and seeing things that are only possible if God is in it.

The only way this is possible is if we allow the Holy Spirit to work and direct. If we allow the supernatural to supersede the natural and are willing to be led by the Spirit of God.

Sermon from 03/10/13_Freedom by Adoption

Date 2013-03-11

This week at Imprint Church in Woodinville we we talked through our fourth freedome statement from our sermon series on the book of Galatians.

Freedom Statement #5: In Christ, you can have a father who loves, approves, desires, values, and accepts you.

We have to know what it means, we have to feel what it means, and actually have to experience what it means. Knowing God as our Father may be one of the most revolutionary things that you will ever know, feel, and experience in this life. Galatians 3:26-4:7 provides us with a picture of what it means to be an adopted son of God.

Sermon from 02/24/13_Freedom from the Law

Date 2013-03-03

On March 03 at Imprint Church in Woodinville, we continued our sermon series on the book of Galatians that is looking at the different “Freedom Statements” that Paul unlocks in his writings to the early church. As a recap, the freedom statements from the first three weeks in this sermon series were:

Freedom Statement #1: We are saved by grace and we must continually live by grace
Freedom Statement #2: In Christ, my past does not define my present or my future
Freedom Statement #3: The key to the Christian life is faith

This week, we studied Galatians 3:10-27 to introduce Freedom Statement #4: Baptism is the symbol of new life in Christ. Paul tells us in Galatians that we need to understand the purpose of the law and it in a way that leads to new life.
