2013-06-30 Sermon on The Parable of the Tenants

Date 2013-07-01

Our sermon this week at Imprint Church in Woodinville was on the Parable of the Tenants from Matthew 21:33-46.

This is right at the end of Jesus’ life. He’s about to go into Holy Week. And something important to note is that the imagery of this parable actually points to a change of focus for Jesus and God’s plan that is in process.

In one sense, this parable is all about God’s mission. He’s had a mission since the beginning of time to use His people to bring about His plan in the world. But there’s a shift of focus on who will do that…

If we look closely, we will see that Jesus is shifting a focus of his people from Israel alone and He’s making way for the entire world to be given the responsibility to be His representatives in the world.

Date 2013-06-24

This week at Imprint Church in Woodinville, WA, we continued our teaching on the parables of Jesus by studying Matthew 7:13-29.

Some of the implications from this sermon the parables of Jesus are:

1. We need to stop and listen to what Jesus is saying
2. Discipleship is not a one-time event, and it is not instantaneous.
3. When you start walking with Christ, you can count on the fact that storms are coming.

2013-05-19 The Lost Parables of Jesus

Date 2013-05-27

This week at Imprint Church near Bothell, we continued our “Tell Me a Story” sermon series by examining Luke 15. What we read is fondly known in the Bible as The Lost Chapter because it’s the parables when Jesus talks about:

The lost sheep
The lost coin
The lost (or prodigal) son

The first 2 parables are pretty self-explainable as Jesus gives us the explanation at the end. But it is the 3rd story that really catches our attention.
In this sermon about the parable of the Prodigal Son you are presented with characters that demonstrate three ways to live life.
