A King And A Kingdom - Mark 1:16-45

Date 2015-04-27

Christianity did not thrive in the ancient world because of the social, economic, religious, or political climate. There was nothing inevitable about the spread of the gospel. Christianity thrived because all authority was given to the risen Jesus who commanded his followers to go into all the world and make disciples. And they obeyed. Not only did they obey; but they were compelled to obey.

He still commands us to follow Him in this way. And he still promises to send us, teach us to make disciples, and multiply communities of his followers everywhere.

In this sermon you will learn that when Jesus instructs us to follow him in verses 16-20 in Mark 1, it is a call to a:

1. New identity
2. New community
3. New mission
