2013_12_15-Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace

Date 2013-12-16

In Isaiah 9:6, Isaiah calls the baby who is and who will be the Redeemer of God’s people “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.”

This week at Imprint Church in Woodinville, we started our short Christmas sermon series with a look at Isaiah 7 and 9. Isaiah connects unbelief with instability and insecurity as he warns the young king Ahaz to put his trust in God, not the Assyrian army. Self reliance and reliance on others outside of God’s direction is deadly.

During this prophesy we are introduced to the well-known line, ”Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.” Here is more detail on what those four descriptions of Jesus’ character mean.
